012.43 Spain
by Jose Barbera, RedIRIS Director

In the past quarter, the IP service of the RedIRIS national
network has been steadily growing reaching the level of 20 Cisco
routers at this stage. The number of hosts has increased
accordingly. The February figures from the RIPE DNS Hostcount
shed more than 100 authorized domains and nearly 2000 registerd
hosts, significatively higher than three months ago.
International IP connectivity, so far via IXI, is expected to
greatly improve with the installation of a 64 Kbps tail link
Madrid-Amsterdam to access the Ebone 92 network due to be
operational by mid-April.
The pilot X.500 service is gradually extending the number of
registered organizations and entries. In March, there were 5
DSAs, 59 organizations and over 3,000 entries.
